How Plays Are Counted

What counts as a play, how duplicates are handled, and what's excluded.

A play is counted once per unique listener — rapidly replaying the same session does not inflate the count.

Rules

  • Registered users — plays are counted per user account. Replaying the same session within its playback length counts as a single play.
  • Share link recipients — plays are counted per recipient — by email address, or by IP address when no email is available.
  • Session owners — your own plays on sessions you uploaded are not counted.
  • Compare view — plays made while using the Compare feature are not counted.

Why this matters

These rules ensure that play counts reflect real listener engagement — not the owner looping their own session, and not inflated numbers from the Compare workflow.
